AROUND TOWN
Movie Monday
6:30 pm Monday 23 March 2009
The World’s Fastest Indian, 2005, 127 min
This story is a film based on the legendary New Zealand speed bike racer Burt Munro and his highly modified Indian ‘Scout’ motorcycle. Munro set numerous land speed records for motorcycles with engines less than 1000 cc at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah in the late 1950s and into the 1960s. Many of his records still stand to this day. Burt’s a real guy. Anthony Hopkins plays him in this biopic, apparently very true to his gregarious, resourceful self, and true to the odyssey Burt travelled to get to his Salt Flats destination from New Zealand with almost no money and threatening health problems. PG13

Movie Monday is a free event, every Monday in Victoria, B.C.
