CANADA DAY – Come celebrate our country

Instead of facing up to a daunting health issue, our protagonist chooses to leave family and home behind and to head out on a motorcycle across our country. He meets interesting people, sees a lot of country west of TO. Along the way he encounters many interesting folks and giant things (we have a remarkable number of over-sized hockey sticks, nickels, geese, wigwams, deck chairs etc). There’s even a moment with the Stanley Cup! A great Canadian road movie with terrific soundtrack, this film really grows on you.

Fresh, 2009, 72 min

We’ve had some reminders lately about the folly of global industrial food systems. Here’s some good news!

Fresh celebrates the farmers, thinkers and business people who are re-inventing our food system. Each has witnessed the rapid transformation of our agriculture into an industrial model, and confronted the consequences. Forging healthier, sustainable alternatives, they offer a practical vision for a future of our food and our planet.

Movies are shown on a 12′ screen in the Eric Martin Pavilion in the 1900 block of Fort St. Admission by donation! Pop & popcorn at ridiculously low prices
