Movie Monday

You Don’t Know Jack, 2010, 134 min

Al Pacino is riveting as Dr Death – Jack Kevorkian. Far beyond an issue-of-the-month film, this nuanced script and acting, especially the brilliant performance by Al Pacino, raises this to a completely engaging movie – with a challenging issue at its centre. Lots to talk about here!

Kevorkian just died on June 3, 2011, eight days after his 83rd birthday – of natural causes. more; also view the trailer or watch the making of with remarks by the real Jack

The Boy Inside: Then and Now, 2006, 47 min

“An autistic boy struggles to graduate elementary school in this powerful documentary film about growing up with Asperger Syndrome. A rare insight into an increasingly common form of high-functioning autism, The Boy Inside follows 12-year-old Adam as he tries against all odds to make sense of bullies, girls and life in the real world.”

This film, made by the boy’s mum in 2005, won many awards and was placed in every school in the province. But what happened to the boy since the film wrapped?
