Around Town

The Victoria Film Festival’s Quote-Along Pulp Fiction!

Saturday, October 15th

Vic Theatre – 808 Douglas St

Doors @ 7pm, film @ 8pm

Package ticket is $10 + HST and is only available at the door.

It may be easy to curl up at home with your favourite movie, but nothing

can match a great theatrical experience with a passionate crowd. Big

screen. Big sound. An experience you can never replicate in your living

room.

Pulp Fiction is playing at Vic Theatre for a special Quote-Along screening.

If you’ve seen this movie so many times that you know every word there’s no

question you’ll have a blast. Even if you don’t know every word, the most

memorable lines will show up on the screen karaoke-style, so you can quote,

yell and curse-along with your favourite characters.

We’ve even got a twist contest pre-show, a costume contest, and milkshakes

available in the lobby, so get out your costumes, cap guns, and get into

character – the path of the righteous man awaits.

Screenings

Movie Monday

6:30 pm Monday 17 Oct 2011

Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead, 2010, 97 min

“100 pounds overweight, loaded up on steroids and suffering from a debilitating autoimmune disease, Joe Cross is at the end of his rope and the end of his hope. In the mirror he saw a 310lb man whose gut was bigger than a beach ball and a path laid out before him that wouldn’t end well- with one foot already in the grave, the other wasn’t far behind. Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead is an inspiring film that chronicles Joe’s personal mission to regain his health.”

It’s Joe’s story and several more (a morbidly overweight trucker and a woman who suffers headaches) that might inspire breaking the addiction to junk food, encourage a healthier diet, and regaining a more active lifestyle. Pg the story or view the trailer

6:30 pm Monday 24 Oct 2011

Ron Hynes – The Man of A Thousand Songs, 2010, 90 min

Here’s a totally intriguing portrait of a Canadian icon, as told by himself and his intense and articulate nephew novelist Joel Thomas Hynes. It’s been a 35 year long and winding road, with failed relationships, battles with an alter ego and drugs – a turbulent life in search of the perfect song. Sonny’s Dream is one of those. Pg Listen to Ron Hynes singing Sonny’s Dream or view the films official trailer

Veteran filmmaker Bill MacGillivray will be calling in from NS to talk with our audience about this story.

Movies are shown on a 12′ screen in the Eric Martin Pavilion in the 1900 block of Fort St. Admission by donation! Pop & popcorn at ridiculously low prices
